Lydia + Branden
A Romantic Winter Fairytale
Bubbly, creative, easygoing and kind. This was my first and lasting impression of Lydia from the first time we met. I knew we were going to have a great time and I was absolutely right. Lydia talked of her winter greenery, and neutral theme, and I was hooked.
Their wedding day was everything I dreamed it would be and more. Lydia was so gracious to let me bring a couple photographer friends along for some wedding mentorship. I am all about helping others gain experience in the field and to share my passion for wedding photography. Danny tagged along for video, and Lori tagged along for photos!
One of my favorite parts of the beginning of the day was our commute. Lydia and Branden's home is literally less than a minute away from mine! Pretty much neighbors in Lincoln County standards!
As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by several gorgeous friendly faces, a few cute pooches, and Lydia. We scouted a great place for Lydia and Branden's first look, then got to work on the detail shots.
When looking for the perfect space in their home for detail shots, we all gushed over the lighting in their bedroom. It was so perfect, and light with two huge windows. A Photographers dream! We completed the "getting ready" portion of our shots by totally re-arranging their living room, but don't worry, we put most of it back.
Lydia and Branden's first look was so special. Once the groomsmen arrived on the bus, we took Branden to a cozy spot tucked between some cedar trees, and let Lydia come to him. They both looked equally stunning and smitten!
Once we finished our first look, we were off to a local park for photos. We chose Towne Park, a local favorite of mine, because I knew a particular row of well maintained cedar trees would match their winter theme so well. Did I mention we had absolutely gorgeous weather? It was sunny, and warm enough to not have a winter coat. I was one happy camper! We explored some fields, and ended our session with a really neat natural plant structure. If you have seen my posts, those end up being my favorite images of the day!
Their ceremony was at a venue that is also very close, but I had never gotten the chance to visit. Shalom Acres is a quaint wedding and event venue overlooking a pond, featuring a rustic chic style barn that has the top floor converted into a reception venue. This is where Lydia and Branden surrounded themselves with friends and family, and standing room only, to commit their lives to one another. Another personal favorite from their day was their officiant. I absolutely love when officiants make the ceremony all about the bride and groom and customize the scriptures or stories to them as a couple. This touching ceremony ended with a sweet kiss and ovation.
When it was time for family formals, we headed down to the pond to take advantage of the great weather and setting. Both Lydia and Branden's families were so welcoming, kind, and fun.
If you are a Lincoln County bride, you KNOW that a must-have is a bar shot on the bar of Main Street in Old Monroe. This was no different for our couple, and we spent the rest of our free time celebrating with the newlyweds and their friends. I love how this is a tradition going back generations.
Last but certainly not least was their beautiful winter wonderland reception held at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Old Monroe. I am so enamored by this venue and how gorgeous each bride can make it look. I swear no two weddings I have ever attended here have looked the same. Lydia and Branden were virtually inseparable and were undoubtedly having a blast on the dancefloor.
We wish them years upon years of happiness, bliss, and blessings.
